Ok, not really, since you can't post pics of kids to the community, but Otto's outfit (picked out himself) was too awesome not to document.
John Deere hat = thrift store
Old Navy Bear sweater = hand-me-down from Diego
vintage 70's Lee overalls = gift from Auntie Lacey
Levi's Italian velcro wrestling-style boots = hand-me-down from Grace

Took Henry to the pediatrician today for his 18 month checkup. All is well and he looks totally healthy, as usual. Also as usual, he is off the chart for height (37") and weight (30.25 lbs). My big bruiser! Now he's sleeping off a couple vaccinations.
He's getting more coordinated all the time. Recently he's been working on feeding himself with a fork and putting legos together. He still loves books more than anything, and will be happily entertained with reading as long as you can read to him. He can walk from our house to the park by himself, and has gotten fairly good about going over to the side of the road to wait when a car comes by (no sidewalks).

In the last two days, Henry has started using a bunch of new words. He's added a lot of animal names to his arsenal. He doesn't say any of these correctly, it's just the initial consonant and vowel sound, but they're quite clear and I'm amazed! He's volunteered all these new words unprompted, identifying animals in picture books or toys:
dah = dog (he's been saying that one for a while)
tur = turtle (started saying that one last week)
ow = owl
beh = bear
hor = horse
mun = monkey
bur = bird
buh = bug
Also, today I was doing my "annoyed mom count to three" and after I said "one" Henry said "two".

New dramatic film from Studio Goblinko. What do you think, can Henry get an Oscar nomination for this performance? (Note: director started filming after three live renditions.)

Otto asked to use my camera again this weekend. Here's a little glimpse into our world, Otto-style:

As all you mamas know, every baby has a different cry, and the cry of your own baby affects you differently than the cry of anyone else's.
I listen to the BBC World Service on the radio when I'm falling asleep. The other night, I was very tired and fell asleep quickly. Then I heard Henry cry out, so I woke up to see what was wrong. I was very confused to find Henry soundly asleep in the bed next to me. Then I heard him crying again, and after a few disoriented moments, I realized that what I was hearing was on the radio. It was a baby in the background of an interview with a woman in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Somewhere in Kabul, there's a baby who sounds EXACTLY like Henry.
